An advisory practice built around difficult situations.
……………………
The E Merchant Advisory is an independent advisory platform focused on complex business, financial and commercial situations.
…………………………………….
We work across different stages of the business and capital lifecycle—from establishing and strengthening businesses to addressing operational problems, evaluating investments, navigating stressed situations, monetising assets and planning business exits.
WHO WE ARE
We work where the answer isn’t obvious.
Complex situations rarely have simple answers.
A business challenge may involve financial, commercial, operational and strategic considerations at the same time. An investment decision may require understanding more than the numbers. A stressed situation may require looking beyond the immediate problem to understand what options remain.
Our starting point is therefore the situation itself.
We believe effective advisory begins with understanding the situation in its entirety rather than approaching it through a predetermined solution.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Complex situations rarely have simple answers.
We believe the right advisory approach starts with understanding the situation before recommending a solution.
That means examining the underlying facts, identifying the issues that matter, evaluating the available options and developing a strategy around the client’s actual objectives.
UNDERSTAND BEFORE RECOMMENDING
Understand the situation in its entirety before defining the answer.
LOOK BEYOND THE OBVIOUS
Examine the underlying facts and the issues that actually matter.
FOCUS ON WHAT CAN BE DONE
Develop practical options around the client’s objectives.

WHY THE E MERCHANT ADVISORY
Built on a Simple Observation: Every Situation Is Different
The E Merchant Advisory was built around a simple observation: what works for one business, project or organisation may not work for another.
Every organisation operates within its own set of circumstances — its objectives, resources, constraints, market conditions, operating environment and stage of development. Yet, during periods of growth or market enthusiasm, it can be easy to follow what appears to be working elsewhere without considering whether it truly fits the situation at hand.
A business may have access to capital, infrastructure and markets, yet still face challenges when the different parts of the organisation are not working together as they should.
We do not begin with a predetermined solution. We begin by understanding the business, the circumstances and the objective.
We examine what is happening, what is driving the situation, what constraints exist, what opportunities remain and what can realistically be done.
This approach extends across the business and capital lifecycle — from BUILD and INVESTIGATE, through TRANSFORM and RESOLVE, to INVEST, MONETISE and EXIT.
The nature of the challenge may change. The underlying principle does not:
Understand the situation.
Identify what matters.
Determine what can actually be done.

HOW WE LOOK AT A SITUATION
Our work draws upon business, financial, commercial, operational, transaction and strategic perspectives.
We bring these perspectives together around the particular circumstances of the assignment rather than applying a predefined structure.
Where specialist intervention is required, we coordinate with relevant professionals and experts to bring the appropriate capabilities to the assignment.
……..
The situation determines the expertise required.

THE CLIENT’S OBJECTIVE
The client’s objective remains at the centre.
Our role is not to assemble expertise for its own sake. It is to remain focused on the client’s objective while bringing together the capabilities required to address the situation comprehensively
………………………………………………

Advisory shouldn’t end with a report.
We do not believe advisory should end with a report or recommendation.
Our role is to help clients understand their situation, make informed decisions and, where engaged, move those decisions towards implementation.
The nature and extent of our involvement depends on the assignment—from independent analysis and strategic advice to coordination and execution support.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE ADVISORY
Different Situations Require Different Perspectives
Complex situations rarely belong to a single discipline.
A business challenge may involve financial, operational, commercial, transactional, project, asset and strategic considerations at the same time. Understanding the situation therefore requires the ability to look at the different parts — and understand how they interact.
The E Merchant Advisory brings together the perspectives and expertise required around each assignment.
Our work draws upon:
Business & Strategy
Understanding the business, its objectives, operating environment and strategic direction.
Financial & Investment Analysis
Examining financial realities, capital requirements, investment considerations, risks and potential outcomes.
Operations & Process
Understanding how processes, systems, people and execution affect the way a business performs.
Commercial & Transactions
Assessing commercial relationships, transactions, projects and the practical realities surrounding them.
Projects & Assets
Looking beyond financial information to understand the physical, operational and commercial characteristics of projects and assets.
Restructuring & Resolution
Examining difficult situations, identifying underlying issues and developing practical pathways forward.
Specialist Expertise
One Objective. Multiple Perspectives.
The E Merchant Advisory does not approach every situation with the same answer. We bring together the right questions, perspectives and expertise for the situation at hand, while remaining focused on the client’s actual objective.
Understand. Decide. Act.

WHAT CLIENTS CAN EXPECT
A practical relationship, built around the assignment.

Clients can expect us to:
Listen first
Understand the situation, objectives and circumstances.
Examine the facts
Look at the financial, commercial, operational and other relevant realities.
Challenge assumptions
Identify what matters and examine the available options.
Stay focused
Keep the work centred on the client’s actual objective.
Help move things forward
Where engaged, support coordination and implementation.
…………………………………….
TELL US ABOUT THE SITUATION
You don’t need to arrive with a perfectly defined problem.
Tell us what is happening. We can assess where our advisory capabilities may add value and determine an appropriate way forward.
